Dr. Sachin Jadhav
Hematologist & Stem Cell Transplant Physician
Chairman, International Hematology Consortium
CEO, Chiron | Founder, Osiris Healthcare Foundation
Dr. Sachin decided to become a doctor when he was 12 years old and his grandmother needed a heart surgery for which only one affordable doctor was available in Mumbai at that time. The scarcity of the availability of high-end, affordable treatment became apparent with this experience.
After completing his basic medical education at Thane and specializing in Internal Medicine in Pune, he undertook his Hematology training at CMC, Vellore and then moved on to London and Vancouver, Canada for learning niche, advanced treatment modalities for blood cancers and in Stem Cell Transplantation.
He started his practice in Bengaluru with the founding principles of quality-focused teamwork which could give the same treatment outcomes as in developed countries at 1/5th the cost.
With the initial success that he and his team had in their first Department in Bengaluru, they were asked for support to start more such Centers.
Replicating his idea of quality and protocol-focused teams, which were trained to deliver good outcomes of treatment, he and his team built more Departments in Bangalore, Calicut, Mumbai, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Nagpur.
Going further they performed Stem Cell Transplantation without any deaths and proved that complex treatment can be provided even in a Tier III city like Hubli and in severely resource-limited countries like Tanzania.
Of course, this was backed by indigenous research in infections in cancer patients in LMIC and in creating robust systems to deliver affordable healthcare.
Dr. Sachin continues to work with doctors across nationalities to provide access to good treatment via his Osiris Foundation and the International Hematology Consortium.
